 In the pagan calendar it is closely in tune with the natural rhythms and cycles of nature and the seasons.

Eight points during the year are seen as having a specific meaning. Litha. Summer solstice. And 'one of the minor Sabbat also called "Midsummer".

It corresponds to the feast of St John for Catholics. God is in full force and is celebrated with the lighting of fires.

It 'very important, on the night of St. John between 23 and 24 June to collect herbs and plants especially St. John's wort, mistletoe, elder, mugwort and vervain which then will be used during the year but it is equally important to collect the famous dew St. John.
