Abhiseka a sprinkling, anointment, empowerment, or initiation.
A ceremony in which a student is ritually entered into a mandala of a particular tantric deity by his vajra master.
He is thus empowered to practice.
There are four principal abhisekas:
(1) vase abhiseka (kalasabhiseka), which includes the abhisekas of the five iluminated families: water(vajra), crown(ratna), vajra(padma), bell(karma), and name(illuminated);
(2) secret abhiseka(guhyabhiseka);
(3); prajnajnana-abhiseka and (4) abhiseka(caturthabhiseka) Four empowerments and according to the inner tantras, there are four levels or stages within any empowerment: the vase empowerment Skt.
