St. Gotthard of Hildesheim was a bishop that lived in the 10th century in germany. He engaged in serious studies at local abbeys and worked for the courts. When the abbey when he studied was converted into a monastery, Gotthard remained there as a monk; he was later ordained as a priest. St. Gotthard is invoked against fevers and childhood illnesses, as well as dropsy and gout.
